Barric Gold

The Barric Gold Corporation is one of the leading gold producing companies accounting for about 10 percent of the gold market`s volume. The 2008 income totalled $642 million. The shares of Barric Gold Corporation are listed under the symbol ABX at the New York Stock Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange. At present, the company is a Tier I gold producer. The company operates mining sites in Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Peru, Tanzania, and USA. The headquarters of Barric Gold are located in Ontario, Canada.

The largest global gold producer was established in 1983 by the Hungarian-born industrialist Peter Munk. Initially, the company purchased 23 percent of the gold reserves at the Valdez Creek region in Alaska. Then, Munk bought half of the interest at the Renabie Mine in Ontario. The acquisition of the Mercur Mine in Utah was a major success of the Barric Gold Corporation. Between 1984 and 1985, the company revenues increased from $13 to $42 million. In 1996, Munk acquired the Goldstrike Mine in Nevada. The mining site turned out fully operational and produced 2 million ounces of gold per year. After the acquisition of Goldstroke, Barric Gold became the leading global producer of gold.

At present, the company exploits 27 mines across the globe. The total reserves of Barric Gold amount to 124 million ounces of gold, 1 billion ounces of silver, and 6 billion pounds of copper. In North America, Barric Gold operates ten mining facilities such as the Bald Mountain, Cortez, Golden Sunlight, and Goldstrike Property, among others. The mining sites contain a total of 45 million ounces of gold reserves. The South American gold mines hold 39 million ounces. The facilities comprise of the Cerro Casale, Lagunas Norte, Pierina, Pascua Lama, Veladero, and Zaldivar gold and copper mines. Baric Gold operates ten mining sites in the Australian Pacific region: Darlot, Granny Smith, and Osoborne, among others. The mines contain 20.8 million ounces of gold reserves. In Africa, the company exploits three gold mines: Bulyanhulu, North Mara, and Tulawaka. In addition, Barric Gold explores several gold and platinum projects. The gold reserves amount to 19.5 million ounces.
